RELEASE DATE: 12/29/05 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES FALL 93-72 IN FIRST ROUND OF WINTER PARK ROTARY TANGERINE TOURNAMENT A slow start in the first half takes its toll on the Mounties Winter Park, Fl -- A slow first half start ended up sealing the Mountaineers fate in their first game of the Rollins College Winter Park Rotary Tangerine Tournament tonight. The Mounties fell 93-72 to Hillsdale College. Hillsdale opened the first half with a 13-4 run, and would never look back. Mansfield was outscored 47-28 in the first half. The second half was a different story as Mansfield held the scoring close being outscored 46-44. The Mounties were led once again by Brandon DeShields with 17 points, four rebounds, and three assists. DeShields had a big second half scoring 16 of his team high 17 points in the final 20 minutes. Carlos Collazo added 13 points and David Hoopes chipped in 10 points. Mansfield was 43.1% from the field as a team while HIllsdale shot 48.4% from the floor. Hillsdale College was led by three players in double figures. Tim Homan led all scorers with 27 points. Cory Coe and Drew Powell each added 18 points for the Chargers. Mansfield will play New Jersey Tech Friday night at 6:00pm in the consolation game.
