RELEASE DATE: 1/19/05 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES STRUGGLE IN PSAC EAST OPENING LOSS AT MILLERSVILLE MILLERSVILLE – The Mansfield University men’s basketball team could do little right in the first half in dropping a 85-68 decision to Millersville Wednesday night at Pucillo Gymnasium in the Mountaineers opening game of the PSAC East season. Mansfield led 15-14 five minutes into the game before Millersville exploded to take a 56-32 lead at intermission. The Marauders shot a blistering 65.7% from the floor in the first half with four players scoring in double figures over the first 20 minutes of the game. Carlos Collazo was the Mountaineers only bright spot in the first half scoring 15 of his team high 20 points. Mansfield managed to outscore Millersville 36-29 in the second half, but had no chance of overcoming the halftime deficit. Justin Kress was the only other player in double figures for the Mountaineers recording a double-double with 10 points and a game high 10 rebounds. Jason Benson scored nine points and Johnny Hampton added a season high eight. Greg Testa scored a game high 22 points for Millersville. Mansfield will host West Chester this Saturday afternoon at Decker Gymnasium. |
