COLD SHOOTING MOUNTIES FALL TO #13 IUP
INDIANA,
PA – Hot shooting IUP had five players in double figures in posting a 104-70 win
over Mansfield in a PSAC crossover contest at Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday
afternoon.
IUP, ranked #13 in the
latest NBCA NCAA Division II poll, was red hot in the first half hitting 76% of
their shots in building a 32-15 led over the first 10 minutes of the game. They
took an insurmountable 61-35 lead into halftime.
The Mountaineers were the
complete opposite hitting just 38.5% of their shots from the floor – the second
lowest percentage of the season and turned the ball over a season high 27 times.
David Hoopes
led the Mountaineers with 17 points with Jason Benson scoring 13.
Justin Kress added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
IUP was led by Eddie
Peterson with a game high 23 points.
Mansfield will travel to
Lock Haven on Sunday for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
