FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MANSFIELD UNIVERSITY HOST “ED WILSON DAY” THIS SATURDAY – MU’S WINNINGEST MEN’S BASKETBALL COACH TO BE HONORED AT HALFTIME OF SATURDAY’S GAME

MANSFIELD – Mansfield University will honor one of the school’s greatest coaches when it hosts “Ed Wilson Day” this Saturday afternoon at Decker Gymnasium.

One of the all-time great coaches in school history, Ed Wilson served as head men’s basketball coach from 1967-87. Over the course of his career, Wilson won a school record 300 games while capturing two PSAC titles. In 19 seasons as head coach, Wilson had just two losing records while advancing to post season playoffs a school record 12 times.

A reception for all Wilson’s former players, coaches, friends and Mountaineer fans will be held in the balcony of Decker Gymnasium between the Mountaineer women’s and men’s basketball games with Edinboro University.

Wilson will also be honored at halftime of the men’s game with a special check presentation for the Ed Wilson Scholarship Fund endowment.

The women’s game tips off at 1 p.m. followed by the reception. The men’s contest is set for 3 p.m.
