FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIE MEN FALL TO #19 BOWIE STATE – KRESS SCORES 13

MANSFIELD – Bowie State took advantage of its height advantage to dominate the boards in recording a 86-72 victory over Mansfield University Sunday afternoon in Decker Gymnasium.

The #19 ranked Bulldogs used size inside to post a 44-31 advantage on the boards.

As promised the game was a fast paced affair featuring two of the top offensive teams from the PSAC and the CIAA.

Mansfield took a 23-20 lead on a  layup by Justin Kress with 10:13 to play in the first half before Bowie went on a 15-2 run over the next four minutes of play to take a 35-25 advantage.

The Mountaineers managed to cut the deficit to 42-36 at intermission, but could pull no closer in the second half.

Justin Kress led four Mountaineers in double figures with 13 points and also pulled down a team best seven rebounds. Terrance Williams scored 12 points with Jason Benson adding 11 and David Hoopes 10.

Derick Payne led Bowie State (4-0) with 19 points.

The Mountaineers fall to 2-2 on the season and will host Edinboro
