FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MANSFIELD MEN ROLL OVER BLOOMSBURG 104-65 – BRANDON DeSHIELDS SCORES CAREER HIGH 32 POINTS

MANSFIELD – Brandon DeShields exploded for a career high 32 points to lead Mansfield to a 104-65 victory over Bloomsburg in a PSAC East contest at Decker Gymnasium Wednesday night.

“Everybody on our team came to play tonight,” said head coach Vince Alexander. “Brandon was definitely the star of the game tonight, but it was a team effort. Every one of our guys played well and with intensity.”

Starting for the first time this season, DeShields exploded for 20 first half points, hitting 6-of-9 from the floor including 4-of-5 3-point attempts to pace the Mountaineers to an insurmountable 53-38 halftime advantage.

DeShields, who posted his first career double-double with 10 rebounds,  got plenty of help from Carlos Collazo who scored 12 of his 16 points before intermission. Collazo also had a double-double with a game high 12 rebounds.

The Mountaineer dominated the game on the boards, pulling down 54 rebounds to 19 for Bloomsburg including 23 offensive rebounds to the Huskies 2. Mansfield also hit on 14-of-26 3-pointers.

All 12 players on the Mountaineer roster scoring in the game with David Hoopes also getting into double figures with 13 points.

The game was ended with 1:32 to play after Bloomsburg’s Marion Rose suffered an injury and was attended my medical personal on the court for 20 minutes before being taken away by ambulance.

Bloomsburg was led by Andrew Jerry with 15 points.

The Mountaineers improved to 9-9 overall and 2-1 in the PSAC East. They travel to Kutztown on Saturday.
