FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SCOTT MILANOVICH REJOINS MOUNTAINEER FOOTBALL STAFF AS OFFENSIVE CONSULTANT – SERVED AS OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR FOR RHEIN FIRE OF NFL EUROPE THIS PAST SEASON

MANSFIELD – Scott Milanovich, a former NFL quarterback who served as the offensive coordinator for the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe this past spring, has rejoined the Mansfield University football staff as offensive consultant.

The announcement was made by Mountaineer head coach Jim Shiffer.

“We’re certainly excited to have coach Milanovich back with us,” said Shiffer. “He brings a world of experience and is very familiar with our players and program.”

Milanovich served a part-time quarterbacks coach for the Mountaineers last season before leaving Mansfield for the NFL Europe season where he was promoted to offensive coordinator for the Fire after serving as quarterbacks coach the previous two seasons.

Prior to patrolling the sidelines as a coach, Milanovich enjoyed an extensive playing career that saw him appear in the NFL, NFL Europe, CFL and the XFL.

He served as quarterbacks coach of the Rhein Fire in 2003 and 2004. Between those seasons he briefly returned to the playing field as quarterback of the Canadian Football League's Calgary Stampedes.

Milanovich played for the Berlin Thunder in 2000, completing 148 of 265 passes for 1,651 yards and 12 touchdowns for a QB rating of 78.7. He spent four seasons as a backup quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who allocated him to NFL Europe.

Milanovich also saw NFL action with the Cleveland Browns and was a member of the Los Angeles Extreme in the XFL.

He finished college career as Maryland's all-time leading passer, breaking Boomer Esiason's marks with 650 completions from 982 attempts for 7,301 yards and 49 touchdowns.
