FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MANSFIELD HAS PLAYERS APPEAR 12 TIMES ON D-II NATIONAL STATISTICAL LEADERS LIST

MANSFIELD- As of September, 27 the Mansfield University Mountaineer football team had six players make the D-II statistical leaders list.

Freshman running back Earnest Poohbear McNeal ( Orlando FL / Lakeland Prep) is first in Rushing (674 total yds) and All-Purpose yardage (1015 yds).  McNeal also appears fourth in Scoring (48 pts.) and 16^th in Punt Returns (16.9 yds/avg).

Senior quarterback Travis Motley (York/Central York ) ranks 12^th in the nation in Passing Efficiency (50.6).  Senior wide receiver Joe Bennett ( Horseheads , NY /Notre Dame) also adds another player from the Mountaineer offense to the list, ranking 11^th in Receiving Yards per Game (115.8)

Sophomore defensive back Ronnie Montgomery (Syracuse, NY/Cochran)  leads the defensive unit, appearing two times, ranked tenth in Interceptions (3), and 18^th in Passes Defended (1.8 pdpg).

Junior defensive back Joe Frick (Montrose/Montrose) ranks 15^th in forced fumbles (2).  Teammate Keith Slezak (Windber/Windber) is tied with Frick at 15^th with two forced fumbles of his own. 

Mansfield is back in action this Saturday, October 4, when they travel to Millersville University for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
