FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: DAN HOLLAND FINISHES FOURTH IN HARLON HILL VOTING – HIGHEST FINISH FOR DEFENISIVE PLAYER SINCE 1995

FLORENCE, AL Mansfield University senior linebacker Dan Holland finished fourth in voting for the 2003 Harlon Hill Award in results released at the Harlon Hill Banquet Friday night

North Alabama senior quarterback Will Hall won the 2003 Harlon Hill Award with St. Cloud quarterback Keith Heckendorf finishing second and Nebraska-Omaha running back Justin Kammard finishing third.

The Harlon Hill Award is presented annually to the best player in NCAA Division II. The award winner is determined in voting by the Division II sports information directors and was presented in front of a crowd of almost 500 at the eighteenth annual Harlon Hill Trophy award banquet at the Florence Conference Center.  The Harlon Hill Trophy is sponsored  by Coca-Cola, the City of Florence, and Trustmark Construction.

Holland finished fourth with 74 points, but his 15 first place votes were the third highest cast.

Holland’s fourth place finish was the highest finish for a defensive player since NFL standout Ronnie McKinnon was the Harlon Hill in 1995.
