FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: DAN HOLLAND TO PLAY IN WHATABURGER CACTUS BOWL THIS FRIDAY – ALL-STAR GAME SHOWCASE TOP SENIORS IN NCAA DIVISION II

MANSFIELD – Mansfield University senior standout Dan Holland will play in his final collegiate football game as a member of the East squad in the 2004 Whataburger Cactus Bowl.

The Cactus Bowl showcases the top NCAA Division II players in the nation in a game attended by scouts from every NFL team in preparation for the NFL Draft in April.

The game will be played Jan. 9, 2004, at 7 p.m. at Texas A&M-Kingsville's Javelina Stadium.  The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Southwest. Last year 22 participants in the Cactus Bowl were either drafted or signed free agent NFL contracts.

Holland, considered by many as the best defensive player in NCAA Division II, is the first Mountaineer selected to the prestigious post season All-Star game.

A four-time All-PSAC East selection and two-time PSAC East Defensive Player of the Year, Holland finished fourth in the 2003 Harlon Hill Award voting for the best player in NCAA Division II. He has already been named to 1st Team AFCA All-American and AP Little All-American honors.
