FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MANSFIELD FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES 2004 RECRUITING CLASS

MANSFIELD-The Mansfield University football program is months away before kicking off the 2004 season, but it’s not to early to get acquainted with the new faces that will be hitting the gridiron this upcoming season.

Last season the Mountaineers finished with an 8-3 record posting their first winning season since 1975. Mansfield will kickoff the 2004 season on  Aug 28. at California University of Pa.

 

2004 Mansfield University Football Recruiting Class

Warren Bartlett – North East High School, Philadelphia, PA – Linebacker

  • A two time starter for North East, Bartlett was named all Public and All City and was invited to play in the city All-star game.  Was named linebacker of the year both his junior and senior year and was the team captain during his senior year.  Bartlett was also on the honor roll.

Brett Basehore – Cumberland Valley High School, Boiling Springs, PA – RB

  • A four year member of the Cumberland Valley football team, Basehore rushed for 1,000 yards both in his junior and senior year.  He scored 22 touchdowns during his junior year and 13 during his senior year.  Basehore also ran track during his freshman and junior year as a sprinter.

Drew Baxter -Greece Olympia High School, Rochester, NY- Kicker

  • Two year starter for Greece Olympia, Rochester NY. Holds school record for one of the top four longest field goals. First team All-monroe County, All-Greater Rochester, Regional Fall sports All-Star. Helped lead team to Section Five Championship. Made 100% of PAT attempted.

Eric Bohannon — ELCO High School, Myerstown, PA – LS, OL, DL

  • A three year member of the ELCO football team, Bohannon was named to the first team All-County as Center and was named to the second team as center and defensive end in 2003.  In 2004 he made the Lancaster/Lebanon All-star team.

David Calloway -- Benjamin Franklin – Cornerback

  • A three year member of the Benjamin Franklin football team, Calloway was named the Gatorade Offensive player of the year.  He was the Eagles top achiever in 2002.  Along with playing football, Calloway ran track as well and was named All-Public in 2000 and 2004.  He won the Leadership Award in 2002.

Kevin Calvert – Father Judge High School, Philadelphia, PA – DE

  • A four year member of Father Judge’s football team, Calvert was named to the All-Catholic team and played in the All-City game.

Jordan Champion – Central High School, Philadelphia, PA - OT

  • A four year member of the Central football team, Champion helped lead the team to the semi finals of the Public League City Play-offs.

Tom Condo – Crestwood High School, Wapwallopen, PA – Safety

  • A four year member of the Crestwood football team, Condo started in both his junior and senior year.  He was selected to play in the All-star ‘UNICO’ Football game in 2003.  He was part of ‘Who’s Who Among American High School Students’ for three years.  As well as playing football, Condo played the outfield for the Crestwood baseball team.

Scott Cram – South Side High School, Elmira, NY – DE, OL, SS

  • A two year member of the South Side football team, Cram was a member of the Wrestling and Baseball team.  He served as wrestling captain and football captain while at South Side.  Cram was also an honor roll student.

Rodney Davis – Neshaminy High School, Levittowne, PA – Running back

  • Played one year for Bensalem football before becoming part of the Neshaminy football team for three years.  Davis was a three year starter and was named to the All-Golden first team and the All-SOL first team.  He also won the ‘Mr. Redskins’ MVP Award.  During his sophomore season, Davis helped lead his team to a state championship with a 15-0 record.  During his junior season, Davis helped lead his to team to an 8-3 record and won the league championship.

Jeffrey DeFrank – Trinity High School, Mechanicsburg, PA – WR

  • A four year member of the Trinity football team, De Frank was named to the Mid-Penn first team as a split end and return specialist.  He was also named to the second team as a defensive back.  In 2002, DeFrank helped lead his team to the District III championship.  DeFrank also participated in basketball and track while attending Trinity.  He is a four time district champion and in 2001 and 2003 won the state championships for basketball.  In track he was sixth in the state in the 4 X 800 and third in the district.

Tom Duer – Williamsport Area High School, Williamsport, PA – OLB

  • A four year member of the Williamsport Area football team, Duer was part of the District Four All-Star game and has won the Thomas McHeran Award.  Duer was also selected to ‘Whos Who Among American High School Students’ in 2001.

Darrell Fincher – Benjamin Franklin, Philadelphia, PA – SS and WR

  • A four year member and three year starter at Benjamin Franklin, Fincher as All-Public and All-City during his junior and senior year.  He led the city and was ranked third in the state with nine interceptions during his junior season.  Fincher also ran track and was named All-Public and All-City during his senior season.

Troy Godinet – Reading High School, Reading, PA – OLB

  • A four year member of the Reading Football team, Godinet was named All- L-L League during both his junior and senior year.  He was also named All-County during his senior season and made the All-Academic team.  Godinet has won the Coach’s Heart Award and was the Villanova Camp MVP as linebacker.

Sid Greene – Cortland High School, Cortland, NY – FB

  • A four year member of the Cortland football team, Greene also participated in baseball, wrestling and track.  He was named the best defensive player twice and was an All-League Alternate.  Greene has also won several wrestling tournaments while at Cortland.

Clarence Hendley – Ben Franklin, Philadelphia, PA – LB

  • A four year member of the Ben Franklin football team, Hendley was named All-Public and was named the Gatorade Defensive Player of the year.  As well as excelling on the playing field, Hendley excelled in the classroom as well earning excellence in mathematics.

Marc Hunsberger – Wyomissing Area High School, Wyomissing, PA – NT

  • A three year member of the Wyomissing football team, Hunsberger was named to the All-County and All-League first team as well as the All-Academic team in 2003.  In 2002 he was named All-County and All-league was honorable mention as well as making the All-Academic team.  Hunsberger helped lead his team to District champions and to the state quarterfinals in 2001.  In 2002 he helped lead Wyomissing to the District playoffs and in 2003 were the District Finalists.  Hunsberger participated in track while at Wyomissing.

Eric Karlin – Lower Dauphin High School, Hummelstown, PA – DE

  • A four year member of the Lower Dauphin football team, Karlin was a varsity letter winner and was the Mid-Penn honorable mention for defense.  During his senior season, Karlin helped lead Lower Dauphin to the District III title and advanced to the Eastern semi-finals.

Patrick Krzykowski – Solvay High School, Solvay, NY – OT

  • A four year member of the Solvay football team, Krzykowski was a two year starter at offensive tackle and defensive end.  During his junior season, Solvay made it to the state semi-finals in class B.  As a senior Solvay was the CNY-Class B West Honorable Mention.

Tyler Machamer – Loyalsock Township High School, Williamsport, PA – WR

  • A three year starter at Loyalsock, Machamer was the 2001 Associated Press Small School All-State 3rd team, was the CSC Small School receiver of the year, the CSC First team All-Conference in both 2000 and 2001.  He also made the Class AA All-Pennsylvania Football News All-State second team in 2001, was the Price Optical Regional Offensive MVP of the year in 2001 and made the Williamsport Sun Gazette Regional All-Star team.  The winner of the 2001 Loyalsock Township High School MVP and was the 2001 PIAA District IV Outstanding Male Athlete.  During his senior season in 2001, Machamer had 65 receptions for 1,111 yards which are both records at Loyalsock.  Machamer was a two year starter at Valley Forge Military College from 2002-2004.

Tyrone Robinson – Bishop McDevitt High School, Philadelphia, PA – WR

  • A four year member of the Bishop McDevitt football team, Robinson has made second honors as well as the All-Catholic team.  While at Bishop McDevitt, Robinson was a three year member of the track and field team where he was named to the All-Catholic team.

Mike Russo – Cicero North Syracuse High School, Cicero, NY – RB/DB

  • A four year member of the Cicero North Syracuse football team, Russo was captain of the team and has won the physical fitness award.  Along with playing football Russo also participated in baseball, basketball and track.  He was the freshman captain for the basketball ball and baseball teams.

Chris Simmers – Coatesville Area High School, - DE

  • A four year member of the Coatesville football team, Simmers has been named to the All-Chestmont team, the All-Area Team and participated in the Valor Bowl. 

Jeff Tanner – Hazleton Area High School, Sheppton, PA, - WR

  • A three year member of the Hazleton Area football team, Tanner was the schools receiver of the year in 2003/2004 and made the UNICO/All-Star team as wide receiver and defensive end.  Was named to the Wyoming Valley Conference Division I All-star team and made second team honors for offense.  As a team, Tanner helped lead Hazleton to the Wyoming Valley Conference Championship in 2003 and were the 2003 Eastern Conference Champions.  While at Hazleton, Tanner was a three year member of the baseball team.

Chris Tribanas – North Penn High School, Lansdale, PA - DL

  • A four year member of the North Penn football team, Tribanas was the 2003 captain and a two year letter winner.  In 2002 he made the second team All-League as offensive guard.  In 2003 he was named to the first team All-League as a defensive lineman.  Tribanas has helped lead North Penn to the SOL Champions in the 2002/2003 season and were the district champions during the 2002/2003 season.  In 2003 North Penn were the quad A State Champions.
