FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MANSFIELD NAMES EDDY AUGUSTIN FULL-TIME ASSISTANT COACH – FORMER DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR AT NORWICH WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DEFENSIVE LINE

MANSFIELD – Eddy Augustin has been named as the full-time defensive line and strength coach at Mansfield University. The announcement was made today by head football coach Jim Shiffer.

Augustin served as the defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Norwich University since February 2004. Prior to that he the special teams coordinator and strength and conditioning coordinator at Norwich from 2001-2004.

Augustin started his collegiate coaching career at Millersville University serving as running backs coach in 1999 and 2000 before going to Norwich.

A 1994 graduate of Millersville with a degree in psychology, Augustin was a four-year member of the Marauder football program. He was a running back for his first two seasons before moving to linebacker.

Augustin help the Marauders to a PSAC East title in 1993 and racked up 79 tackles including six sacks as a senior in 1994 helping his team to an 8-2 overall record. He was also a three year member of the wresting team while at Millersville, earning letters in 1992 and 1993.

After graduation, Augustin was an assistant coach at Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek, CA for three seasons. In addition, he served internships at the University of Pennsylvania and Sonoma State University and was awarded a MA in sport psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Orinda, CA in 1998.

Mansfield will open spring practice on April 4, and concluded it with the annual Red & Black Spring Football Game on April 30.

Augustin will assume his responsibilities immediately.
