MANSFIELD – Brent Steinmetz rushed for 81 yards including touchdowns and Bob Findora passed for 192 yards and a touchdown to lead West Chester to a 49-0 win over Mansfield in a PSAC East game at Karl Van Norman Field Saturday afternoon.

It marks the first time the Mountaineers have been shutout since the final game of the 2000 season.

Osagie Osunde scored West Chester’s first two touchdowns on runs of 10 and two yards. Steinmetz scored his first TD on a 13-yard run with 6:44 remaining in the second half. West Chester would increase it’s lead to 28-0 on a six-yard TD pass from Findora to Cory DeForrest 48 seconds before intermission.

Steinmetz added his second touchdown midway through the third quarter and Josh Fidler scored on a two-yard run less than three minutes later. Eric Ruffenach rounded out the scoring with a 19-yard touchdown catch from Matt Burdalski.

West Chester rolled up 517 yards in total offense to Mansfield’s 131.

Paul Garofalo led the Mountaineer offense rushing for 67 yards on 23 carries while quarterback Matt Hildebrand competed 9-of-18 attempts for 64 yards.

Joe Bennett, who left the late in the game with an injury, caught two passes for 22 yards with Eddie Van Buren catching three balls for 18 yards.

Senior Joe Frick led the defense with a game high 10 tackles, including eight solo. He also returned four kickoffs for 99 yards. David Fetzer, who moved for backup quarterback to cornerback, was credited with six tackles. Senior Mike Reed also had six tackles as well as an interception. Jason Zeigler and Brian DeCecco had five tackles each.

West Chester improves to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the PSAC East while Mansfield falls to 1-6 and 1-3 in the PSAC East.
