RELEASE DATE: 10/30/04 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MANSFIELD FALLS 35-14 TO MILLERSVILLE MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University Mountaineer never got untracked in the first half in falling to Millersville 35-14 in a PSAC East contest Saturday afternoon at Karl Van Norman Field. Millersville scored all its points in the first half as they built a 35-0 lead at intermission. Juan Jones ran for a season high 150 yards on 18 carries including touchdowns of 25, 60 and 1 yards to lead Millersville offense. Jones scored on a 25-yard run on Millersville’s first possession of the game and added a 60-yard scoring run with 3:08 remaining in the first quarter. Millersville would increase it lead to 21-0 on a three yard TD pass from Dan Csencsitz to Clift. That combination would hook up again less than a minute later, this time for an 18-yard score. Jones closed out Millersville’s scoring with a 1-yard plunge just before halftime.
Fetzer replaced starting quarterback Matt Hildebrand who left the game with an injury late in the third quarter. He completed seven-of-11 passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns, all in the fourth quarter. Eddie Van Buren caught four passes for 70 yards with Corey Mishura and Luke Straniere each recording two catches for 30 and 25 yards respectively. Poohbear McNeal rushing for 134 yards on 31 carries including a season high run of 25-yards. Joe Frick had another outstanding day on defense with a team high nine tackles including a sack and forced and recovered a fumble. He also had 101 yards in kick returns. Daricus Haynes had eight tackles including two for loss with Andre Turner also being credited with eight stops. Keith Slezak had seven tackles with Jason Twedt adding six tackles including one for a loss. Millersville improves to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the PSAC East. Mansfield falls to 1-8 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
