RELEASE DATE: 11/24/04 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: BRIAN DeCECCO AND JOE FRICK TO PLAY IN EAST COAST BOWL ALL-STAR GAME SATURDAY MANSFIELD – Mansfield University football standouts Brian DeCecco (McKeesport/South Allegheny) and Joe Frick (Montrose/Montrose) have been invited to, and will play in, the East Coast Bowl Game this Saturday at Cameron Field in Petersburg, VA. Sponsored the City of Petersburg and the National Football Foundation, the East Coast Bowl is designed for senior football players from NCAA Division II and III schools throughout the East to showcase their skills for professional football scouts. Last year, Mansfield University quarterback Travis Motley earned MVP honors by leading the North team to a comeback win in the final seconds of the game. Motley went on to become the starting quarterback for Arkansas Travelers of the AFL2. Over the past three years, 23 East Coast Bowl participants have gone on to sign professional contracts with the NFL, CFL, AFL and AFL2. DeCecco, a three-time All-PSAC East selection, is one of the top defensive lineman in Mountaineer history. A starter in every game during his four year career, DeCecco was a preseason All-American selection this year and recorded 33 tackles at noseguard in 2004. In 41 career games, DeCecco racked up 146 tackles including 76 solo and 16 for a loss. Frick was an All-PSAC East selection this season at safety where he ranked fourth in the PSAC in tackles with 89 including 58 solo and five for a loss. He also led the team with four sacks and returned an interception for 42 yards. In 38 career games, Frick was credited with 225 tackles including 142 solo and 16.5 for a loss. He also had four interceptions. |
