FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: FORMER MANSFIELD QUARTERBACK SHINES IN FIRST SEASON WITH AFL2

Mansfield- Former Mansfield standout quarterback Travis Motley came into the Arena Football League 2 (AFL2) shining and ended the 2004 season the same way for the Arkansas Twisters as they defeated Bossier-Shreveport 60-36 in the season finale on July 31 in front of over 8,500 fans at Alltel Arena.

It was a career day for Motley who found receiver Kevin Williams in the end zone four times in the first half alone as the Twisters jumped out to an early 27-7 halftime lead.

In the second half, Motley continued throwing touchdown passes, five to be exact including two more to Williams.  The former Mountaineer finished the game 18 of 34 passing for 239 yards and nine touchdowns while throwing just 10 interceptions.

Motley became the third quarterback in Twisters history to throw for nine or more touchdowns in a game.

In his first season in the AFL2, Motley connected on 120 of 233 passing for 1,611 yards and 36 touchdowns. The Twisters finished on a high note despite their 4-12 record winning three of their last five games.

This past year at Mansfield, Motley had one of the best seasons for a quarterback in school history. He directed the Mountaineers to an 8-3 record, completing 124-of-253 passes for 1,950 yards with 22 touchdowns and just six interceptions.

He ended his collegiate career as the Mountaineers all-time leading passer completing 618-of-1,221 attempts for 7,547 yards and 62 touchdowns.
