FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES FALL TO LONGWOOD 6-3 IN FIELD HOCKEY SHOOTOUT

MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University field hockey team fell to Longwood College in a 6-3 shootout at Spaulding Field Sunday afternoon.

Longwood took a 2-0 lead 21 minutes into the game before the Mountaineers got a score when freshman Alissa Gallagher took a pass from junior Kristen Campbell at the 24:53 mark.

But Longwood would come right back, scoring twice in a two minute span a minute of the Mansfield score to take a 4-1 advantage into halftime.

Longwood would add two more goals before Ashley Celaschi and Amy Houck each scored unassisted goals for Mansfield to close out the scoring.

Mansfield falls to 3-14 overall while Longwood improves to 6-10.
