HEATHER LONG NAMED NCAA DIVISION II STX/NFHCA ALL-AMERICAN
MANSFIED – Senior record breaking goalie Heather
Long (Pottsgrove/Pottstown)
has been named to Second Team STX/NFHCA Division II All-American honors. The
All-American team was released today by the National Field Hockey Coaches
Association.
Long,
who was earlier named to All-PSAC honors, broke the NCAA Division II record for
saves in a season with 341 this year. She also set the NCAA Division II record
for career saves with 860.
"What a great honor for a truly deserving athlete," said head
coach Diane Monkiewicz. "Heather has been an outstanding goalie for us for
the past four years and has always been consider one of the top players in the
country. I so happy for her that in a year she shattered national records she
gets the recognition she deserves."
A PSAC Scholar-Athlete, Long becomes the first Mansfield
goalie to earn All-American honors.
