MOUNTIES DROP MATCH AGAINST
NATIONALLY RANKED LOCK HAVEN
MANSFIELD
– At Spaulding Field, the Mountaineers faced third in the nation Lock Haven
University. The Mounties limited the
Eagles to 3 goals. Earlier this
season Lock Haven defeated Mansfield
10-0. The PSAC East rematch was an
improvement for Mansfield, who played with a determined defense.
Mansfield’s 3-0 loss against Lock Haven gives the Mounties a 3-10 overall record and a
3-8 record in the conference.
The Mounties only let Lock Haven score one goal in the first period, despite the
twenty shots Lock Haven fired at the Mansfield
goal. Senior goalie Heather Long (Pottstown/Pottsgrove)
had ten saves in the first period and 26 on the day. Sophomore Holly Fredrickson (Woodbine, MD/
South
Carolina
)
had two defensive safes this game to help Long out.
Mansfield’s defense faced a total of 51 shots, and only allowed three goals.
Freshman Alissa
Gallagher (
Clarks
Summit/Abington Heights), the leading scorer for the Mounties, had the
only two shots for Mansfield.
The next game for the Mounties is Saturday, October 11th, when they
travel to Shippensburg for a noon
game time. Shippensburg
University
is ranked first in the nation with an overall record of 11-1.
