RELEASE DATE: 11/18/09 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield’s Courtney Grunza and Brittany Kostishion named to 2nd team All-American honors by womensfieldhockey.com – Kristyn Grunza and Kristy Tutorow selected to All-Rookie squad MANSFIELD – Mansfield University seniors Courtney Grunza (Nicholson/Lackawanna Trail) and Brittany Kostishion (Perkasie/Pennridge) have been named to second team All-American honors by the field hockey website www.womensfieldhockey.com. Freshmen Kristyn Grunza (Nicholson/Lackawanna Trail) and Kristy Tutorow (Shickshinny/Northwest) were selected to the All-Rookie team.
Courtney Grunza and Kostishion were among the 36 NCAA Division II players selected to All-American honors by the website while Kristyn Grunza and Tutorow were among the 16 freshmen named to the All-Rookie squad. Grunza and Kostishion were both named to 1st Team All-PSAC West honors earlier in the month. Grunza, widely considered one of the best defensive backs in Mountaineer history, recorded a goal and three assists this season despite playing a defensive position. She is a three-time All-PSAC selection. Kostishion, a midfielder, ranked third on the team in scoring recording six goals and seven assist for 19 points on the season. She is a three-time All-PSAC selection. Both Grunza and Kostishion were NFHCA 2nd Team All-American selections last year. Kristyn Grunza, the younger sister of Courtney, led the Mountaineers in scoring, goals and assists as a freshman this year. A forward, Gurnza scored nine goals and recorded eight assist for a total of 26 points. She was named to 2nd Team All-PSAC West honors earlier this season.
Tutorow ranked third on the team in scoring as a freshman with nine 21 points on nine goals and three assists. ###
