FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield’s
Shana Markwis, Briana DeLuca, Courtney Grunza and Brittany Kostishion named to
named to All-PSAC West field hockey honors
MANSFIELD – Four members of the 2008
Mansfield University field hockey team, Shana Markwis (Milford/Delaware
Valley), Brianna DeLuca (West Grove/Avon Grove),
Courtney Grunza (Nicholson/Lackawanna Trail) and Brittany
Kostishion (Perkasie/Pennridge), have been named to the second team
honors on the 2008 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West field hockey
team.
The team was released today by the PSAC
office.
All four are repeat All-PSAC selections.
Markwis,
a senior center-midfielder and four-year starter, set the stage for the
Mountaineer offense all season. A starter in all 19 games, Markwis scored three
goals with two assists on the year.
DeLuca,
a senior goalie and three-year starter, ranked third in the PSAC this season
with 132 saves and fifth in shutouts with two.
Grunza,
a junior and three-year starter at back, has been the mainstay of the
Mountaineer defense for the past two seasons earning All-PSAC honors in each.
Grunza started all 19 games this season and added two assists in addition to her
defensive play.
Kostishion,
a junior and two-year starter at midfield, has earned All-PSAC honors in each of
the past two seasons. Kostishion, a starter in all 19 games this season, scored
two goals and added an assist this year.
Mansfield finished the season with a
7-12 overall with a 3-5 in PSAC West play.
