FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Field Hockey Ranked 10th in Most Recent National Poll

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association released the STX/NFHCA National Poll on Tuesday. The poll lists the top 10 division II teams in the Nation. After the week ending September 10th, the Mountaineer field hockey team sits 10th on the list.

Mansfield carries an overall record of 1-3 with an 0-1 record in the PSAC but that record may not clarify the improvements the Mountaineers have made this season. All three of Mansfield's losses have come to three of the top four ranked teams in the Nation, and all games thus far have been played on the road.

The road doesn't appear to be getting any easier for the Mounties as they travel to Shippensburg Wednesday to face the fifth ranked team in the latest coaches poll.

It seems that the tough schedule may have positive effects as the Mountaineers are certainly gaining respect. There are a number of division II programs with winning records that failed to make the poll. With four of their first five games against four of the top teams in the Nation, the Mountaineers are not being taken lightly.

Mansfield will play at Shippensburg Wednesday at 4:00pm and will travel to Kutztown Saturday afternoon before playing their first home game of the season on Sunday, September 17th, at 1:00pm versus IUP.
