FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Ryanne Higgins and Breanne Tobin Named to NCAA Division II All-American Honors

MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University field hockey scoring tandem of Ryanne Higgins (Newtown/Council Rock) and Breanne Tobin (Perkasie/Pennridge) have been named to the 2006 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFCHA) Division II All-American team announced today.

Both were named to Second Team honors.

Higgins ranked fifth in the nation in points per game (2.24), eighth in goals per game (.86) and fourth in assists per game (.52). The junior forward was also fifth in the PSAC in overall points (47) and goals (18) while finishing the season second in the conference in assists (11).

A freshman, Tobin was ninth in Division II in goals per game (.81) and 13^th in points per game (1.81). She also ranked eighth in the PSAC in total points (38) and seventh in goals (17). 

The Mountaineers set numerous school records during the season including 61 goals.

Mansfield, which played the second toughest schedule in the nation, finished the 2006 season with an 11-10 overall record. The Mountaineers lost in the opening round of the PSAC playoff 3-2 to undefeated and 2006 National Champion Bloomsburg.
