RELEASE DATE: 10/20/04 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES FALL 2-0 TO #4 BLOOMSBURG IN FIELD HOCKEY MANSFELD – Giving one of their best efforts of the season, the Mansfield University field hockey team battled #4 ranked Bloomsburg before falling 2-0 in a PSAC field hockey game Wednesday afternoon at Spaulding Field. Bloomsburg’s Maribeth Brozena scored off a penalty corner at the 25:48 mark of the first half. The Mountaineers came close to tying the game on a shot by Chelsea Phillips but it was blocked by Bloomsburg goalie Tracey Hudak. Mansfield almost tied the score early in the second half but Marci Lippert’s shot off a corner from Phillips went wide. Bloomsburg scored again 52 minutes into the game on a goal by Sharal Parlon. The Mountaineers got off two more shots late in the game by Kristen Campbell and Keely Jarrett, but both were blocked by Hudak. Bloomsburg improves to 16-3 overall and 10-3 in the PSAC. Mansfield falls to 5-13 and 3-10 in the conference. The Mountaineers travel to Millersville this Saturday for the final game of the 2004 season.
