FOUR MANSFIELD UNIVERSITY FIELD HOCKEY PLAYERS NAMED TO THE NATIONAL FIELD
HOCKEY COACHES ASSOCIATION 2003 DIVISION II NATIONAL ACADEMIC SQUAD
MANSFIELD - Four members of the Mansfield
University
field hockey team have been named to the 2003 Division II National Academic
squad. The honor was released Tuesday by the National Field Hockey Coaches
Association.
To be eligible for NFHCA Academic honors players must maintain at least a 3.30
cumulative grade point average (GPA) and be a productive member of the field
hockey team
Nicole Dann (
Ontario
,
Canada
)
appeared in nine games as a defensive back before sustaining an injury in the
2003 season. Dann is majoring in
sports nutrition and is the daughter of Russell and Mary Dann of Ontario,
Canada.
Alissa Gallagher (
Clarks
Summit
,
PA) appeared in all 19 games as a forward for the Mountaineers
this past season. She scored
seven goals for a total of 14 points on the season. Gallagher is an undeclared major and is the daughter of Tim and
Mary Gallagher of Clarks Summit, PA.
Amy Laubach (
Bloomsburg
,
PA
)
appeared in 18 games as a forward for the Mountaineers this past season,
scoring one goal. Laubach is a
nutrition major and is the daughter of Randy and Cindy Laubach of Bloomsburg,
PA.
Heather Long (
Pottstown
,
PA
)
appeared in all 19 games in goal for the Mountaineers.
Long was named 2nd team All American and 2nd
team all PSAC this season. She also broke the NCAA Division II record for
saves in a season with 341. Long set the NCAA Division II record for
career saves with 860. Long is
a criminal justice major at Mansfield
and is the daughter of Steve and Jayne Long of Pottstown,Pa.
