FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST WEST LIBERTY STATE

FAIRMONT, WV – Dan Yoder (Williamsport/Williamsport) pitched four strong innings for the win in the opener and Matt Mills (Clifton, VA/Centerville) went 5-5 with a triple and double to lead Mansfield to a 15-10 win over West Liberty State (WV) in the first game of a doubleheader at Fairmont, WV Saturday afternoon. West Liberty won the nightcap 15-2.

In the opener, the Mountaineers pounded out 18 hits led by Matt Mills who was 5-5 with a double, triple and two rbi. Eric Baker went 2-4 with a double and four rbi. Yoder went the first four innings allowing two earned runs on four hits while striking out two.

Mansfield struggled to get anything going offensively in the nightcap with just five hits in dropping their first game of the season.

The Mountaineers will play West Liberty again on Sunday morning and Fairmont State Sunday afternoon.
