FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES SPLIT AT SLIPPERY ROCK – DAN YODER WINS FOURTH GAME OF SEASON

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA – Matt Mills (Clifton,VA/Centerville) smacked a bases loaded double to drive in three runs and freshman Dan Yoder (Williamsport/Williamsport) won his fourth game of the season in a 4-3 win over Slippery Rock in the nightcap of a doubleheader at Jack Critchfield Park Saturday afternoon. Slippery Rock won the opener 6-2.

Mills came to the plate with two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the first inning to drill a double to center to clear the bases after Jason Manwaring (Elmira,NY/Horseheads) singled in the first run of the game.

Yoder scattered five hits over five innings while striking four in improving to 4-1 on the season. He was relieved in the sixth by John Cronin (Horseheads,NY/Horseheads) to earn his second save of the season. Cronin allowed no hits and struck out two. Mills went 3-3 with a double and three RBI’s to lead the hitting attack.

Mansfield took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first in the opener when Brett Brown crushed his fourth home run of the season after a walk to Brandon Brokaw (Altoona/Altoona).

The Mountaineers are scheduled to host Edinboro University Sunday in a doubleheader at Shaute Field starting at 1 p.m.
