FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES SPLIT SEASON FINALLY WITH EAST STROUDSBURG – FINISH SEASON WITH 24-21 MARK  

EAST STROUDSBURG -- Freshman Dan Yoder (Montoursville/Williamsport) went the distance in the nightcap to earn a school freshman record ninth win of the season as Mansfield University split a season ending PSAC East doubleheader with East Stroudsburg 1-3, 4-3 Saturday afternoon.  

Yoder threw his fourth complete game of the season, striking out seven and walking one to become the first freshman in Mansfield’s 134 year baseball history to win nine games in his first season. 

Mansfield scored two runs in the second inning and, trailing 3-2, scored two more in the top of the sixth on RBI singles by Brett Brown (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) and Doug Evans (Mansfield/Elmira Notre Dame) to close their season with a 24-21 record.  

In the opener, Jeff Papi (Tunkhannock/Tunkhannock) went the distance striking out three with two walks. Jason Fischer (Williamsport/Williamsport) doubled in Mansfield’s solo run in the first inning.
