FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES SPLIT WITH BLOOMSBURG IN BASEBALL – WIN OPENER WITH THREE RUN RALLY IN BOTTOM OF THE SEVENTH  

MANSFIELD – Aaron Kilgo (Honesdale/Honesdale) singled in the tying run and Travis Wurster (Montoursville/Montoursville) hit an rbi single to score the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to lead Mansfield University to a come-from-behind 6-5 win over Bloomsburg in the opening game of a PSAC East doubleheader at Shaute Field Sunday afternoon. Bloomsburg won the nightcap 10-2.  

In the opener, Bloomsburg scored five runs in the first two innings before the Mountaineers started chipping away with a solo run in the third on a sac fly by Jason Fischer (Williamsport/Williamsport) and scored twice in the bottom of the fifth off a wild pitch and RBI single by Doug Evans (Mansfield/Elmira Notre Dame).  

Jason Manwaring (Elmira,NY/Horseheads) led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and the Mountaineers loaded the bases when Brett Brown (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) was hit by a pitch and DJ Houshauser (Hamburg/Hamburg) walked. Jason Fischer drove in a run with a sac fly before Kilgo come off the bench to tie the score. Wuster then singled to center to score the winning run.  

John Cronin (Horseheads,NY/Horseheads) went the first 6.1 innings before being relieved by Marty Rakazawski (Hanover/Hanover) who was credited with the win. Houshauer went 3-3 in the game with Evans and Wurster with two hits each.  

In the nightcap, Bloomsburg jumped out to a 7-1 lead that the Mountaineers could never recover from. DJ Houshauser hit a solo home run in the sixth and Travis Wurster was 2-3.  

Mansfield goes to 18-13 overall and 5-5 in the PSAC East. The Mountaineers travel to Shippensburg on Tuesday.
