FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield’s Chris Zelko Named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week – junior tosses one-hit shut in Mounties PSAC East opener

MANSFIELD – Mansfield University standout Chris Zelko (Horseheads,NY/Horseheads) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division Pitcher of the Week for his one-hitter in Mansfield’s PSAC East opener at Millersville.

Zelko helped Mansfield win its PSAC East opener by tossing a complete game one-hitter in a 2-0 win over Millersville in the first game of Friday's doubleheader. In spinning the shutout, Zelko struck out five and walked just one. He carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before giving up a leadoff single. He faced just two batters over the minimum and recorded 11 groundouts.

Zelko is 2-0 on the season with a 3.79 ERA. In 19.0 innings worked, Zelko has scattered 14 hits while striking 11 and walking just one batter.  Opponents are hitting just .192 against him so far this season.

Mansfield is 9-5 on the season and currently in second place in the PSAC East with a 3-1 mark. The Mountaineers are scheduled to host Lake Erie in a PSAC interdivisional doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shaute Field.
