MANSFIELD – Levi Weiskopff hit a home run and drove in four runs in the opener and Dylan Woodworth homered and drove in five runs in the nightcap to lead Mansfield to a 10-5, 18-4 sweep over Washington Adventist in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Shaute Field.

The sweep extends Mansfield’s winning-streak to 11 games, the longest streak for the Mountaineers since winning 14 straight midway through the 2002 season. Mansfield scored 28 runs on 36 hits in the doubleheader to improve to 30-14 on the season.

In the opener, Mansfield scored twice in the second on a RBI triple by freshman Seth Tressler and run scoring single by Weiskopff. Tressler and Weiskopff drove in another run each in the four-run fourth inning and Weiskopff added a solo home run in the sixth.

Marc Baker picked up his first win of the season scattering six hits over 5.2 innings and striking out four. Joe Will picked up his second save of the season in relief.

Weiskopff went 4-4 including his second home run of the year with three RBI’s to lead the offense. Chris Coleman, Dan Chevalier and Tressler all went 2-4.

In the nightcap, Woodworth’s three-run home run in the bottom of the third broke up a 3-3 tie and Mansfield would score seven runs on eight hits in the fourth, including home runs by Kevin Miller and Jon Taddeo to put the game out of reach.

Mike Hartz, Brian Milliman, Tressler, Woodworth, Glen Jenkins and Taddeo all had three hits each for Mansfield with Milliman also hitting a two-run home run in the first. Shane Ryan started and took the win scattering eight hits and striking out four over four innings.

Mansfield will close out the regular season with a pair of key PSAC East doubleheaders with East Stroudsburg this Friday and Saturday. The Mountaineers are currently in third place in the PSAC East with an 11-9 conference mark, two games ahead of both East Stroudsburg and Millersville. The top four teams from the PSAC East and PSAC West advance to the PSAC Championship.
