RELEASE DATE: 3/07/09 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mountie baseball drops 8-2 decision to Slippery Rock in Florida FT. PIERCE, FL – Jared Johnson’s two-run triple in the sixth inning was one of Mansfield’s few highlights in a 8-2 loss to Slippery Rock in Ft. Pierce, FL Saturday afternoon. It marked the Mountaineers second-straight loss to Slippery Rock and the third during the Florida trip. Tyler Noel started and took the loss for Mansfield which fell to 6-11 on the season. Chris Miller doubled and no Mountaineer had more than one hit. Rich Michalek drove in three runs to lead the Slippery Rock (10-4). Mansfield will close out it’s Florida trip with a doubleheader against Pitt-Johnstown on Sunday morning before flying back home. The Mountaineers are scheduled to host Clarion in their home opener on March 13.
