RELEASE DATE: 4/5/08 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield wins bizarre season baseball opener DEERFIELD BEACH, FL – Ryan Riley blasted a three-run home run in the top of the ninth to lead Mansfield to a 7-3 come-from-behind win over C.W. Post in the Mountaineers baseball season opener in Deerfield Beach, FL Thursday. C.W. Post had to forfeit the game after a second rain and lighting delay after one pitch in the bottom of the ninth to catch their flight back home. According to NCAA baseball regulations, the final score remains at 7-3 and all statistics count but it must also be reported as a forfeit. Trevor Tellip picked up the win in relief and Justin Garcia added a two-run home run in the sixth. Mansfield’s game with Lynn University has also been delayed because of the weather. The game was originally scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. but has had to be postponed. Lynn does have lights on its field and was trying to secure a lighted facility and play later this evening.
