RELEASE DATE: 5/21/07 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield’s Ryan Wyland Named to ABCA/Rawlings Division II All-Region Team MANSFIELD – Ryan Wyland (Williamsport/Loyalsock) continued to add to his post-season honors today when he was announced as a first team selection to the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Division II All North Atlantic Region team. Wyland excelled at the plate and on the mound this season but earned the first team nod as an outfielder. He ranked second among full-time starters on the team with a .331 average and 24 RBI in 38 games played , and led all Mountaineers with 47 hits, 71 total bases, 17 extra-base hits and went 13-for-13 in stolen base attempts. On the mound he made nine appearances with seven starts and six complete games. He registered a 6-2 record with a 3.40 ERA with 27 strikeouts over 50.1 innings. He earned All-PSAC first team honors this season for the second consecutive year and one upped that achievement by becoming the PSAC East Player of the Year. This is the second consecutive year Wyland has made the first team All-North Atlantic squad after he earned the honor at utility last season. By being named to the first team, Wyland is now eligible for All-American voting. The voting will be conducted this week and the All-American squads will be announced on Sunday at the conclusion of the NCAA Division II World Series. Wyland graduated last weekend with a degree in Elementary Education but will actively pursue a professional career in baseball.
