FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Picked Third in Coaches Poll

Lock Haven, PA – The PSAC coaches poll was released this afternoon and shows the Mountaineers picked third in the Eastern Division.

Mansfield enters the 2007 season after a 31-24 performance last year and Harry Hillson's 13th appearance in the PSAC Championships.

Highlighting the 2007 team is Preseason All-American Ryan Wyland. Wyland picked up where he left off last season with impressive showings at the plate and on the mound over the spring break trip.

A big boost to the Mountaineers pitching staff this season comes from the refreshed Dan Yoder. Yoder underwent Tommy John surgery and is starting to return to form. He threw two complete game wins over the break.

Joining Yoder and Wyland is a talented group of seniors including Scott Erickson, Dave Meldrum, Travis Lepperd, and Nick Grove.

Harry Hillson enters his 21st season at the helm of the program where he has amassed 639 total wins entering the 2007 season.

The Mountaineers are picked third in the Eastern division behind Kutztown and West Chester while Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg, and Millersville round out the poll.

California is picked first in the Western Division Poll.

The Mountaineers opened the season with a 4-8 record in Florida over spring break but got solid offensive production toward the end the trip and saw improved pitching throughout.

The winter weather has forced multiple cancellations and postponements thus far this season but the Mountaineers are scheduled for their next contest this Saturday when they travel to Shippensburg for a doubleheader. Mansfield opens the home season on Sunday with a doubleheader against the Red Raiders.
