RELEASE DATE: 4/21/07 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Swept by East Stroudsburg MANSFIELD – East Stroudsburg rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh of the night and Mansfield left the baseball loaded in the bottom of the inning as East Stroudsburg swept Mansfield 9-4, 6-5 in a PSAC East doubleheader at Shaute Field Saturday afternoon. Mansfield trailed 3-1 in the second game before the Mountaineers scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth highlighted by an RBI single by Chris Miller. East Stroudsburg to single runs in the fifth and sixth to tie the score before Mansfield retook the lead on a run scoring single by Lance Miller. East Stroudsburg was down to their final out in the top of the seventh but scored on a wild pitch and error to take a 6-5 lead. Mansfield loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh but couldn’t push across a run. Dan Yoder went the whole way to take the loss while Jeremy Gigliotti picked up the win in relief. Travis Lepperd went 2-3 from the plate. In the opener East Stroudsburg scored six unearned runs including four in the fifth inning. Josh Butler led ESU with a home run and three RBI. Nate Grove doubled and drove in a run to lead Mansfield. The Mountaineers fall to 13-17 overall and 6-8 in the PSAC East. East Stroudsburg improves to 20-16 overall and 7-7 in PSAC East play. The same two teams meet for a doubleheader tomorrow at East Stroudsburg.
