In the opener, Mansfield scored six runs in the second inning taking advantage of five walks along with a two-run single by Ryan Wyalnd and three-run double by Colby Rickabaugh (Newville/Big Springs) to give the Mountaineers all the runs they would need. Mansfield scored a solo run in the third on a sac fly by Nate Grove (Williamsport/Williamsport) and in the fifth on another sac fly by Grove. Dave Meldrum’s (Venetia/Peters Township) RBI single in the sixth rounded out Mansfield’s scoring. Dan Yoder continued on his road back after sitting out last season with an injury by going 5.2 innings scattering six hits and striking out three. Wyland went 3-4 from the plate with two RBI’s. In the nightcap, Mansfield’s
Nick Grove (Williamsport/Williamsport) and Millersville’s Millersville loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the six before James Haas was hit by a pitch driving in a run. Ryan Wyland then came in relief to retire the side. Millersville then scored eight runs on seven hits and two Mansfield errors in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach. Mansfield goes to 19-11 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC East and travel to Lock Haven on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader.
