RELEASE DATE: 5/25/06 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Ryan Wyland Named to ABCA First Team All Region -- Colby Rickabaugh Earns Second Team Honors MANSFIELD – Ryan Wyland (Williamsport/Loyalsock) continues to pile on the post-season awards after garnering his second consecutive All-PSAC East First Team honors this season. Since then, Wyland has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) North Atlantic Region Second Team, and most recently has been named by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings to the First Team All-Region Team for the North Atlantic Region. Earning First Team All-Region honors now makes Wyland Eligible to be voted for All-American Recognition. Wyland won All-Region First Team honors at utility. A starter in all 55 games this season Wyland played third base, second base, outfield and pitched. Wyland had a PSAC best 83 hits on the season including 15 doubles, a triple and seven homeruns. He also led the PSAC in runs scored (60) while driving in 42 runners and stealing 14 bases in 18 attempts. Wyland’s .403 batting average with fifth best in the PSAC. He also was a solid performer on the mound, appearing in 14 games and posting a 4-4 overall record. In 38.1 innings worked he struck out 31 batters.
Colby Rickabaugh (Newville/Big Spring) also continues to add onto his post-season awards after he too was named to the First Team All-PSAC East earlier. Rickabaugh was named to the ABCA Second Team All North Atlantic Region for his work in the outfield. A starter in all 55 games this season, Rickabaugh rapped out 72 hits in 191 at-bats including 17 doubles, three triples and seven home runs. He topped the PSAC in doubles and RBI’s (57) while finishing 15th in the PSAC with a .377 batting average. Rickabaugh also ranked among the top relievers in the conference with 17 appearances on the mound producing 18 strikeouts and four saves.
