Mounties Colby Rickabaugh and Ryan Wyland Named to First Team All-PSAC East –
Ryan Giblin, Scott Erickson and Matt Allegretto named to Second Team honors
MANSFIELD – Colby
Rickabaugh (Newville/Big Spring) and Ryan Wyland (Williamsport/Loyalsock)
were rewarded for their outstanding play this season by being named to First
Team honors while teammates Matt Allegretto (Bellefonte/Bellefonte),
Scott Erickson (Elmira,NY/EFA) and Ryan Giblin
(Feasterville/Neshaminy) received Second Honors in All-PSAC voting among
the conference head coaches.
The teams were released
today by the PSAC office.
Rickabaugh
was named to first team honors for the second straight season was one of the
most feared players in the conference for both his bat and his arm. A started in
all 55 games this season, Rickabaugh rapped out 72 hits in 191 at-bats including
17 doubles, three triples and seven home runs. He topped the PSAC in doubles and
RBI’s (57) while finishing 15th in the PSAC with a .377 batting
average. Rickabaugh also ranked among the top relievers in the conference with
17 appearances on the mound producing 18 strikeouts and four saves.
Wyland
also won All-PSAC East First Team honors for the second straight season at
utility. A starter in all 55 games this season Wyland played third base, second
base, outfield and pitched. Wyland had a conference best 83 hits on the season
including 15 doubles, a triple and seven homeruns. He also led the PSAC in runs
scored (60) while driving in 42 runners and stealing 14 bases in 18 attempts.
Wyland’s .403 batting average with fifth best the in conference. He also was a
solid performer on the mound, appearing in 14 games and posting a 4-4 overall
record. In 38.1 innings worked he struck out 31 batters.
Allegretto
ranked among the conference pitching leaders throughout the regular season
finishing with a 7-3 record. His seven wins were the second most in the PSAC. A
starter in all 12 games he appeared, Allegretto struck out a team best 40
batters over 66.1 innings worked.
Erickson
had an exceptional sophomore season becoming the Mountaineers every game catcher
by midseason. In 44 games, Erickson batted .336 with eight doubles, a triple and
home run. He drove in 21 runners while scoring 26 teams. Erickson also had a
standout defensive year throwing out 12 runners over the course of the season.
Giblin
was rock solid his first year as a starter at shortstop. The sophomore was silky
smooth with the glove while batting an impressive .357. His 60 hits included
four doubles and three triples. He drove in 32 runners while scoring 36 times
and stole six bases.
The Mountaineers finished
the 2006 season with a 31-24 overall record and a trip to the PSAC playoffs for
the fourth straight year.
