FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Sweep Lock Haven 11-4, 8-3 in Non-Conference Doubleheader Tuesday

Lock Haven -- The Mountaineers traveled to Lock Haven University Tuesday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader and came back with two more victories as Mansfield swept the Bald Eagles 11-4 and 8-3. Mansfield improves to 21-11 overall this season and have won 19 of their last 23 games.

Justin Ferguson manned the hill for the Mounties in game one throwing the complete seven inning game. Ferguson gave up nine hits and four runs while striking out three in his second win of the season.

The offense of the Mountaineers produced their 11th 10 or more run game of the season behind stellar offensive performances of Ryan Wyland and Stuart Sumner. Wyland, who was named last week's PSAC East Player of the Week, went 3-4 with two doubles, three runs, and four RBI's. Wyland's hit streak was extended to 11 games after game one. Sumner was 2-3 with two doubles, three runs, and an RBI.

Colby Rickabaugh went 2-4 with a double, a triple, and three RBI's while Ryan Giblin also added a double and an RBI.

Mansfield recorded 11 runs on 14 hits with no errors in game one.

Tyler Noel took the mound for Mansfield in game two and recorded his second win of the season after throwing 5.2 innings. Noel gave up six hits, three runs, and recorded one strikeout.

Ryan Wyland continued his hit streak going 1-4 with a double to improve his streak to 12 consecutive games. Brett Shockloss recorded one hit and three RBI's while Kevin Rollins was 2-3 with two runs and an RBI.

The Mounties recorded eight runs on seven hits, including a seven run fifth inning. Lock Haven mounted a comeback with a three run sixth inning but could not close the gap.

Mansfield is back in action Friday April 7th when they host Bloomsburg in a PSAC East matchup at Shaute Field. Game one is set to begin at 1:00pm.
