RELEASE DATE: 3/15/05 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: D.J. HOSHAUER NAMED PSAC EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK – SENIOR LEADS MOUNTIES TO 8-4 START MANSFIELD – D.J. Hoshauer (Hamburg/Hamburg) has been named the first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for his outstanding performance for the Mansfield University baseball team. Hoshauer has been on fire for the Mountaineers, leading Mansfield to a 8-4 start of the season in 12 games at Ft. Myers, FL last week. The senior captain hit six home runs and drove in 19 RBI’s over that span including hitting a home run each day for five straight days. Hoshauer, who led the PSAC in home runs last season with 12, hit a home run and drove in five runs in the Mountaineers opening season win over Gannon University and hit home runs in games against Ashland (OH) University, Regis (CO) University, Findlay University and Kentucky Wesleyan before hitting a grand slam against Merrimack. In 43 at-bats so far this season, Hoshauer has rapped out 17 hits including three doubles for a .370 batting average and has a team best slugging percentage of .884. The Mountaineers home
opener set for this Wednesday against SUNY-Cortland has been postponed because
of weather and field conditions. A make-up date has yet to be set. |
