RELEASE DATE: 4/04/05 MANSFIELD – Eric Baker (Apalachin,NY/Owego) has been selected the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in the week ending April 3. Baker helped the Mountaineers to a 3-1 mark during the week, including starting the defense of their PSAC East title with a sweep over Bloomsburg. In 15 at-bats he rapped out eight hits (.533) including a double and two home runs. He also drove in eight runs during the week and scored eight times. Baker went 3-5 with a home run and three RBI’s in a win over Lock Haven and followed that up with a 2-3 performance at Bloomsburg including a grand slam. In 22 games this season, Baker is batting .458 with 33 hits including 10 doubles and four home runs. He has driven in 25 RBI’s while scoring 30 times. He ranks second in the PSAC in hitting and stolen bases (11) while ranking third in doubles, fourth in RBI’s and sixth in home runs. Mansfield is currently 12-10 overall and in first place in the PSAC East with a 2-0 mark. They play Bloomsburg in a doubleheader at Shaute Field Tuesday starting at 1 p.m. |
