FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ERIC BAKER NAMED PSAC EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR FOURTH TIME THIS SEASON – SENIOR HITS .571 OVER FOUR GAME SPAN

MANSFIELD – Eric Baker (Apalachin,NY/Owego) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for a school record fourth time this season for his outstanding play in the week ending Sunday.

Baker rapped out eight hits in 14 at-bats (.571 average) as Mansfield went 4-0.  Half of his hits were for extra-bases - two doubles and two home runs - leading to five RBI and four runs.  At the end of the regular season, he holds a Mansfield single-season batting average record of .514.

The senior second baseman is the leading hitter in NCAA Division II rapping 76 hits in 148 at-bats this season including 19 doubles and nine home runs. He has also driven in 50 RBI’s from his leadoff spot on in the lineup while scoring 60 times with 16 stolen bases and 28 walks. Baker also tops the PSAC in slugging percentage (.824) and on-base percentage (.593).

Mansfield ended its regular season with an 28-16 overall record and will play California University (PA) in the opening round of the PSAC Playoffs on May 9.
