FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES EDGED 5-4 BY #24 REGIS – HOSHAUER HITS THIRD HOME RUN OF SEASON

FT. MYERS , FL – A ninth inning rally fell just short as Mansfield dropped a 5-4 decision to #24 Regis University (CO) at Ft. Myers , FL on Sunday morning.

It marked the second straight day the Mountaineers have been edged by nationally ranked teams.

Regis led 3-2 going into the top and the ninth inning and scored twice to lead 5-2. Mansfield came back in the bottom of the ninth to score two runs on a two run double by Eric Baker, but could get Baker no closer to home before the inning ended.

D.J. Hoshauer hit his second home run in two days and third of the season with a solo shot in the sixth inning. Baker was 3-5 with two doubles and two RBI’s.

Matt Allegretto went the first seven innings to take the loss. He struck out seven while walking two.

Mansfield falls to 2-3 on the season and will play twice on Monday.
