FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: COLBY RICKABAUGH GRAND SLAM PROPELS MANSFIELD TO SPLIT WITH LOCK HAVEN – D.J. HOSHAUER BELTS THREE HOME RUNS IN OPENER 

MANSFIELD- Colby Rickabaugh hit a grand slam and Justin Ferguson threw a complete game to lead Mansfield University to a 13-8 victory over Lock Haven University in the nightcap at Shaute Field Thursday.  The game was called by darkness in the bottom of the sixth inning.

D.J. Hoshauer hit three home runs in the opener, but it would not be enough as Lock Haven rallied for a 10-9 win. 

In the nightcap, Mansfield exploded for six runs in the second inning with six hits including a grand slam by Rickabaugh.  Eric Baker had a two RBI home run in the third to secure the victory. 

Baker went 4-5 with a home run and three RBI, Stu Sumner was 3-4 with one RBI, Brett Shockless went 2-3, and J.D. Druckenmiller went 2-4 with two RBI’s in the contest. 

Justin Ferguson went the distance for the Mounties striking out two and scattering 11 hits in 6.0 innings of work. 

In the opener, Lock Haven rallied to score ten runs in the top of the sixth inning highlighted by Aaron Neideigh’s grand.  Travis Wurster had a two RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to try and regain the lead, but it would not be enough as Lock Haven held on to take the victory. 

Hoshauer hit home runs in his first three at-bats including a two-run shot in the first inning, a leadoff homer in the third and a solo shot in the fifth. He increased his conference leading total to 10.  J.D. Farina hit a solo homerun in the third.

Ryan Mantua took the loss for the Mountaineers in 1.2 innings of work. 

Mansfield will travel to Bloomsburg University for their PSAC East opener tomorrow for a 1 p.m. double-header.
