RELEASE DATE: 4/16/05 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MANSFIELD SPLITS WITH KUTZTOWN; MOVES INTO SECOND PLACE IN THE RACE FOR THE PSAC EAST CROWN KUTZTOWN- Mansfield University split with Kutztown University winning the opener 7-4 and dropping the nightcap 2-1 Saturday afternoon at North Campus Field in PSAC East action. Mansfield moves into second place in the race for the PSAC East crown with West Chester University up one game. Mansfield will play host to West Chester Friday, April 22nd at 1:00 p.m. Kane Stein remains perfect on the mound for the Mountaineers, improving his record to 6-0. In the opener, Stein threw a complete game, scattering six hits and striking out one. Mansfield collected 11 hits, with Eric Baker leading the way going 3-4 from the plate with one RBI and two runs scored. Colby Rickabaugh went 2-3 with two RBI’s. Dan Phillips hit a one run double and scored in Mansfield’s three-run rally in the top of the fourth inning. In the nightcap, Travis Wuster went 1-3 with one RBI, but it would not be enough as Mansfield lost a 2-1 decision to Kutztown. Matt Allegretto went the distance for the Mounties on the mound, scattering seven hits and striking out nine. The Mountaineers will host Clarion University Tuesday, April 19th at 1:00 p.m.
