FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES SPLIT WITH WEST CHESTER IN KEY PSAC EAST DOUBLEHEADER

WEST CHESTER – Marty Rakaczewsli (Wilkes-Barre/Hanover) allowed just one hit in 2 ¾ innings to preserve a 2-1 Mansfield University win over #11 ranked West Chester in a PSAC East baseball doubleheader Friday afternoon. West Chester won the opener 4-0.

The Mountaineers got a run in the first when Josh Rearick led off with a walk and later scored on a passed ball. Mansfield picked up its second run of the game in the third when Rearick again led off with a walk and scored on an RBI single by Eric Baker (Apalachin,NY/Owego).

Dan Yoder (Montoursville/Williamsport) started and got the win holding West Chester to just one run over 4 1/3 innings until Rakaczewski came in to shut the door. Baker went 2-3 in the game for Mansfield as did Brandon Brokaw (Altoona/Altoona).

With the split, Mansfield remains just one game behind West Chester for first place in the PSAC East. The two teams will meet again on Saturday for a doubleheader at Shaute Field.
