FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNTIES SPLIT WITH SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE IN FLORIDA – ERICK BAKER BLAST TWO HOME RUNS IN OPENER WHILE JEFF PAPI PICKS UP FOURTH WIN

CAPE CORAL, FL – Jeff Papi improved to 4-0 on the season with a complete game in the opener at Mansfield split a doubleheader with Southern New Hampshire 6-3, 3-7 at Cape Coral Friday night.

Coming off three days rest, Papi scatted five hits while striking out seven and walking none to remain perfect on the season. Eric Baker gave the Mountaineers an early lead with a three-run home run in the bottom of the first and added a solo shot in the fifth. Baker went 2-3 with four RBI’s in game. Brett Shockloss was 2-2 with an RBI.

The Mountaineers out hit Southern New Hampshire 11-8 in the nightcap but had trouble plating runs. Matt Mills went 3-4 with Josh Rearick going 2-4 to lead the offense.

Mansfield is now 10-7 overall and will play IUP Saturday morning before returning to Mansfield.
