RELEASE DATE: 6/30/09 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Sixty-two Mansfield athletes earn PSAC Scholar-Athlete honors MANSFIELD -- Sixty-two Mansfield University athletes earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athlete recognition for the recently completed 2008-09 academic year. To qualify for PSAC Scholar-Athlete honors an athlete must maintain at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average out of a possible 4.0. It marks an increase of two scholar-athletes over the 60 Mansfield athletes that earned PSAC Scholar-Athlete recognition during the 2007-08 academic year. Nearly one-third of all Mansfield athletes earned PSAC Scholar-Athlete recognition this past year. All Mansfield’s 14 varsity sports, with the exception of football, compete in the PSAC. Football competes in the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) with Cornell University, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, U.S. Military Academy (Army) and the U.S. Naval Academy (Navy). The PSAC consists of 16-universities’ throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania including Bloomsburg University, California University of Pennsylvania, Cheyney University, Clarion University, East Stroudsburg University, Edinboro University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Kutztown University, Lock Haven University, Mansfield University, Mercyhurst College, Millersville University, Shippensburg University, Slippery Rock University, and West Chester University.
