18th Annual HO-GIG Golf Outing Outing Receives New Name for 2007
Over 90 players turned up on Saturday, July 29th to play in the 18th Annual Ho-Gig Golf Outing at Corey Creek Golf Club. The annual event raises money for MU Football scholarships and more importantly brings past and present Mansfield students, faculty, alumni and friends together for an entertaining event. Paul Goldberg and Phil Gallen started the event 18 years ago and it remains one of the best-attended fund raising activities of the year. Goldberg and Gallen were on hand again this year to add more memories to an already special event. It was announced at the outing, that the Ho-Gig will receive a name-change for 2007 and beyond. The outing will be named in honor of former Mansfield Assistant Coach, Steve Zegalia. Zegalia's family was present at the outing to accept the honor as Rocky Zegalia, Steve's son, delivered an emotional speech in acceptance of the outing taking his father's name. The 19th Annual Golf Outing will be called the Steve Zegalia Memorial Golf Outing. The 2007 outing is already set, for Saturday, July 28, at the Corey Creek Golf Club. Registrations can begin immediately by contacting Alex Ogeka, Director of Development for Athletics, with your foursomes.
